Originally this project was using a Vicon motion tracking setup. While Vicon gave me a very robust track and easy setup, it limits where I can install this project. There's not many spaces where I can hang 30 cameras. Because of this I started looking into using HTC Vive Trackers for my motion tracking.
The setup requirements for the Vive Tracker is just a single Vive Basestation, just a camera on a stand. This allows me to setup this project anywhere I like, making it much more exhibitable. The other benefit of using Vive Trackers is they have 6 pin-out on their underside, I can use these to send 4 different inputs to the computer alongside the motion data. In order to use these pins I 3d-printed a housing and soldered terminals to it. To this I'm currently attaching a couple of buttons, giving user input straight from the motion controller.
