Back again at another one of Fox&Co's Motion Design Meetups, this time at Wellington bar Choice Bros. The seated tables of Choice Bros hurt the ability to easily mingle, but paired with a couple beers each table ended up in long and rambling conversation. Honestly pretty great to chat so casually.
A long with the various chats of the night I managed to sit down with Fox&Co's founder and creative director Phyo Thu. First of all, lovely person bloody hell. Second, I was really taken aback by how willing and interested he was to hear about me and what I do as a student. I also asked him if he'd be interested in working with the new student-run networking events myself and the boys of Network To Get Work have created. Instant yes. Fox&Co has done their best to attend past third-year student Exposure events, but Phyo wasn't in love with the universities current strategy of only providing a single networking event right at the end of the degree, one that simply sends out an invitation email en mass to various studios and industry figures. So he was quite happy to hear about our plans for a more human approach to involving local studios with talented, emerging artists at the university. I'm very pleased to have gotten the backing of a second studio for Network To Get Work (the honour of the first studio goes to Oscar Smitt pulling in PowPost).
