VFX

In my third year I made a series of VFX shots. One projecting footage onto 3d objects, and the other compositing footage into a 3d scene.

Due to the lingering impacts of the lockdowns, I chose to make my VFX projects in my home. This used this first project as an opportunity to learn about Unreal's In Camera VFX elements, learnings that were crucial later on for my Virtual Production work.
In order to have my walls fall away, I had to project the footage onto a 3d version of the room. Then projecting again to walls with skewed UV's to correct for distortion.
After this integrating everything was pretty straight forward and required almost no compositing work.

For my second project I wanted to practice compositing and remaking environments in 3d. For this project I recreated my bathroom in Blender. I then filmed a reference plate of me using the bathroom, and later attempted to make the same movements in front a green screen and tracked the camera.
The green screen footage was then composited over the 3d bathroom. To make the bathroom mirror work I separately composited just the reflection from the reference footage and attempted to make it match the movements from the green plate.
